The Solent Way connects with several other long-distance footpaths and there are also many other walks in the nearby area, as well as coastal paths further afield around the UK. For more details, see the links below.

Coastal Walks

Has the Solent Way whetted you appetite for coastal walks? If so, you may be interested of the following coastal walks.

The South West Coast Path Probably Britain's' most famous coastal path, the South West Coast Path runs from South Haven Point at the mount of Poole harbour (a few miles west of Milford-on-Sea, the start of the Solent Way), and runs round the entire south west coast via Lands End to Minehead on the Somerset coast. This spectacular path is well-maintained and offers very spectacular scenery.
The Isle of Wight Coastal Path The Isle of Wight is just a few miles across the Solent and can be seen from much of the Solent Way. The island has a coastal path running all around the island (approximately 65 miles), from the popular resorts of the east coast, to the eroding south coast, the coloured sands at Alum Bay or quite creeks on the north of the island, the path has a tremendous variety of scenery. With frequent ferry connections from Lymington, Southampton and Portsmouth, all on the Solent Way, it's also very easy to get to.
The Sussex Border Path The Sussex Border path follows the boundary of the old county of Sussex, starting from Emsworth at the end of the Solent Way, with the first part of the path rounding Thorney Island, ideal for continuing along the coast.
The Hayling Billy Path This path follows the western edge of Hayling Island and follows the route of the old Havant - Hayling Island railway line, making for a flat and easy walk.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path Heading further afield into Wales, this path rounds the coast along the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, a beautiful and unspoilt coastline.
The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path National Trail The coastal part of this footpath follows the Norfolk Coast from Holme next the Sea to Cromer.
The Saxon Shore Way The Saxon Shore Way follows much of the coast through Kent and Sussex from Gravesend in Kent round to Hastings in East Sussex.
